On Sunday 8th of June 2014 was the Pakistani mela in Rotterdam, entrance was free, and families basked in the sunshine, to celebrate our culture, food, art and entertainment.
The Festival provided a opportunity to Pakistani and other communities living in the Netherlands to come together, to have a family day-out, to promote inter-cultural understanding through a fun-full day of culture, food and music, and project the positive image of Pakistan in the Netherlands.
The Mela was organised very well, they had set up a nice program and to top it all, even the parking was free! You could smell the bbq wih chicken tikka and seekh kababs.
There was a chai stand, and you know how much I love a zabardast cup of chai! There was a mithai stand anda chaat stand with different kind of chaats. There were stands with shalwaar kameezein and mehendi stands. There were pakora`s and delicous chutneys.
You could see that the management had put in a lot of effort. There was a musical program with Amanat Ali. The show was in saaf Urdu, that made me feel that I was on a holiday in Pakistan. The whole family enjoyed, the weather was amazing, the children were playing and enjoying their kulfi, I was enjoying my garam chai, there was good music of Amanat Ali and a lot of masti! Well done Pakistani Mela organisers! Looking forward to next years mela.
